Other’s Pain

by Gwydion Ap Alder

Age Group: Adult

Deep inside I ache, inside of my heart’s core I feel sadness,
Seeing the pain and sorrow of wounded brothers and sisters.
Feeling compassion for their frightened desperation and despair,
Struggling to hold them in love while not interfering or fixing.

It hurts that I can do nothing to truly alleviate their suffering,
Nothing to take away the causes of their pain and affliction.
Nothing to change the torturous Life-Paths they tread,
For their ways are not mine, nor are their burdens mine to bear.

But understanding doesn’t lessen my desire to be there for them.
Or my hunger to support their walk by holding them in love.
Hardest for me is to watch someone struggle with their Ego-fears
Wrestling with their demons and wounds yet failing to win free.

I Hold, I See, I Hurt, but I understand and resist my deep urge to fix
As it’s my arrogance and lack of trust that drives my need.
And fixing someone else’s wounds or Ego struggles is impossible
Even were it to be possible, it would be violence against Nature.

For each of us chose our struggles, each selected the woundings
In order that we learn and grow, becoming more than we were.
For in pain and hurt and struggles hide treasures of wisdom
Deep lessons of Life and Living dwell within our struggles.

So I set my intent this day, to choose to love, and see, and BE
To not allow the darkness around me to drag me down to despair

So will I walk eyes and heart wide open, giving my love freely.
Providing by the tenor of my walk Blessings and Support
Never sacrificing myself in the process or taking from them
The burdens or the pain occasioned by their path, their journey.

To Hold but never “Fix”, to Love but never “Take-On Their Burdens”
To Be myself in Truth Holding, Seeing, offering reflection’s gift
And thereby as a mirror reflecting, offer the opportunity to grow.
And to Become….

Blessed Be
