I Ate Something

by Gwydion Ap Alder

Age Group: Adult

I ate something! At school for lunch,
I bought it from old Mrs. Scrunch.
The stuff I ate shone green and blue,
A thing I think food should not do.
And then my tummy really moaned,
It gurgled loud with ugly groans.
The friends that sat by me that day,
They all got up and ran away.
Looking around and saying low,
“I fear something’s about to blow!"
They hurried off to safer places,
With icky looks upon their faces.
“Oh Mrs. Scrunch what did you cook?”
“We need to hide your recipe book!”
My stomach groaned so much I prayed,
The bathroom was not far away.
Then looking down at what I ate,
I saw it crawl right off my plate.
And head across the table top,
Jump to the floor, it would not stop.
And other kids who ate her Goo,
Were making for the bathroom too.
So up I jumped, my vision spotty,
Tried to beat them to the potty.
Scrunch’s Goo, now on the floor,
Was crawling slowly for the door.
It left a trail of shiny goo!
A thing I know food should not do.
My tummy sore my brain all dizzy,
I found myself all in a tizzy.
Running for the bathroom stall,
I slipped in the Goo and had a fall.
Bumped my head upon the floor,
Then for awhile I knew no more.
The next I knew I heard a bell,
Its “lunchtime”! Kids began to yell.
They sprang up from their wooden seats,
To see what Old Scrunch had to eat.
I shook my head and then I smiled,
I‘d been dreaming all the while.
That dream I had scared me a bunch,

I’m glad my mom she packed my lunch!!
