Heart made of tar

For the past few weeks
I cannot sleep
Just remembering the days
When you were here.
I think of you
Day and night
And wonder on and on
About the day when I will see light.
My heart’s in pain
Because of you
But it’s not the only one
My soul is too.
Even strangers
On the street,
Can see my pain
No matter how discrete.
My voice breaks down
My eyes shed tears
Every time someone mentions you
And then I cover my ears.
‘Cause to hear your name,
Brings so much pain
My soul can’t stand
Under so much rain.
I want to run and hide
From all this pain,
But I was taught
That these actions are insane.
I never thought that love could hurt
“Why is her heart”
They will all soon ask,
“so much like tar?”
I will reply
With a cynic laugh
“That is what
My heart was taught”
“The day he left,
He broke my heart.
So it was replaced,
With one made of tar.
So don’t blame me
For being so vicious,
For he was cruel, unkind,
But oh so scrumptious.”
I was defeated
In these things of the heart
But I have learned
That love’s an art.
All you do
Is play with the feeling,
And soon enough
You see them kneeling.
I’m waiting anxiously
For this particular day,
When I will wake up
And be able to say hooray.
When this day comes
I will know
That I don’t love you
That you’re too low.
But until that day
I will wonder why
You broke my heart
When you said goodbye.
Author's Notes: I wrote this poem trying to express my feelings for this particular creature that so cruelly broke my heart ima billion pieces. I love him so much, but thanks to him I will soon be heartless. It's already happening. I feel so empty inside. I feel sorry for myself, for I will never be able to live life like I did before him. But I most defenitely feel sorry for the people around me. I'm so mean to them, I try not to, but I can't help it. It comes out so naturally. One thing I know for sure is that I will survive, I will wake up one day and feel warmth inside of me again. I have faith that one day I will love again. I know that one day I will be loved.
