A Midsumer's Festival

Age Group: Adult
Jumping, twirling, dancing, running,
Shouts of joy and sighs of contentment,
Floral beauty, presence of the divine,
Feasts laid out, for dinner afters,
Celebration of Litha, feel the joy!
The Lord and the Lady are dancing among us!
Sing, sing! Hear us sing! Joy! Joy! Joy!
See us run, see us dance; see the energy tingling in the air!
Stop. The spell has been released, and we fall where we stand,
We lie where we fall, catching our breath, sighing with the release,
Oh, such joy we had felt! Such contentment we knew,
We are resting, here in these woods, in amongst the bushes and brambles,
Then a gentle melody picks up, rousing us from our rest,
Time to sing, time to feast; time to give thanks, time to dance again!
Author's Notes: This poem just came to me in my English lesson today, as I was thinking about a certain Midsummer celebration that I wish to go to in Eastbourne on the 30th. It simply flowed from my mind, through my fingertips, onto the keyboard, and into writing.
