Would You Be My Autumn?*

Age Group: Adult
Coffin kisses would steal the start if they could.
Death wrapped in a pretty box
can't make up for the rest.
Blue lips and violet shadowings
whisper of that last end.
Roses frozen on the bush
do now melt:
Would you be my autumn, love?
Turn the seasons backwards
and burn pale winter.
Liquid fire amber golds
alight in veins long set with frost;
turn the frigid fearing to hope.
Ashes ashes we all fall down,
now rise once again.
Resurrection collection of tears shed,
dig them from their twilight graves
and rend the bitterness.
Shadow shot through with light,
you will be different.
I can taste it in the sleeping air
the first rays of a sun
to thaw the night.
