Reminders of time tilled
When the horseshoe was buried
Pasts arising candle stilled
Traces of knelt daring
By the light of the moon
The slyed glance of arisen eye
The cool stones and danced firefly
Wheeled summer stars dizzied
Hot whispers humid near me
Wolf leaned and hungered kiss
The storm tossed ship’s list
Quarried canal of man’s hour
Silver flecks of ancestor shower
Thunderstorms quick in summer heat
Fireflies scatter in jewelweed creep
Vortex winds with leaves turned down
The maples shudder and hold this ground
Drawn to the cloak and into the night
I stand fast within the streak’d light
Falling and clenching the mud, the earth
Washing my face with Her pregnant mirth
Of lightning rising capped children
The shaman gathers his merry kin
