Unwinding for Whispers

Ink blackened fingers
sorting through threads,
the trees are unraveling,
the leaves are all dead.
Unwind every branch, every twig, every bough
to get to the roots,
to finally know.
When in the morning
the trees drink the frost
that is stuck all with whispers
and words we have lost -
It's three words I'm missing,
three words I must find.
The earth, I am crumbling,
The roots, I unwind.
Peeling back memories
beneath silver bark,
revealing the white
beneath the earth's dark.
Three words I was seeking,
three words I have found,
three words grown so vast
I could easily drown.
The tree is unraveled,
the leaves are all dead,
and they were there all along,
inside of my head.
