Talking to Broken Glass

Shattered glass on the ground
Why did you break?
Did I drop you or did you jump?
Can I pick up the pieces?
Can I mend the shards?
Shine in opalescent splendor
Slumber in sharp hurt
Your mute edges run with my blood.
Did you cut me or did I cut myself?
I see you, yet cannot see through you…
Are you a mirror? or a window?
You are the window through which I see what was.
You are the mirror in which I see only that which remains.
