Absinthe

Age Group: Adult
When five or seven cups I drink,
And into sleep my mind doth sink,
I find that when I wake anon,
My languid fleeting dreams are gone.
Yet memories persist, so clear,
I clasp them like a lover dear,
Of subtler realms and crystal spires,
Of daemon pits and faerie lyres.
Pervade with rose my watered muse,
My soul, my heart, my verdant ruse.
The emerald fae drips... drop... by... drop.
I mean to, yet I cannot stop.
I know not why I sip of thee,
Partaking of green ecstasy.
As through pierc'd spoon you drip... drip... drip,
My thoughts from this realm slip... slip… slip.
Your sweetness soothes my addled mind.
What is it that they who seek find?
