Offering to Xiuhtecuhtli

(whisper Xiuhtecuhtli!) Father, thou who art the oldest of the old, thou changeless one –
Thee we invoke!
Thine is the serpent of flame that encircles the stars! (whisper Xiuhcoatl!)
Thine are the hearth fires that illumine our minds and hearts!
Thine is the heat that burns,
And the warmth that soothes!
From your house at the outer ring of the circle of space, From beyond time and beyond place,
Hear our plea, o flaming one and accept this --
our gift of bread and drink! –
the son of fire and of rain! (whisper Quiauhtonatiuh!) .
