Laying like a corps, centered on the hardwood floor in an empty room. Watching the blades of the ceiling fan spin around. Rhythmically. Patiently. Quietly. Swiftly. I could do that. No words spoken, no thoughts hidden. Mere existence. No lies. No promises. No betrayal. No dysfunction. No anything, except everything; just differently. Not impatiently. I can do this. I can be this. I feel this. I am this. I saw it physically, distressed it mentally; now this is what’s left of me. No feeling. No good or bad, happy or sad. Mere existence. Just watching. No waiting. No anything, except existence. Quiet but not bothered. There’s no more torment. No more pain. No more anything, except me. I’m quiet, like this floor. Patient, like the fan. Rhythmic, like the breeze. Except, I’m me. I’m me. I exist. Beyond this room. Beyond this town. Beyond this state and country. Beyond this world. I exist. I’m existent. My soul is free. That’s how I’m me. My soul is free, you can’t take that from me.
