The Hymn of Kala

Send your roots into the earth...
Then breathe the darkness silence keeps
Feeling it within your bones
Breathing in the starry deep.
Light a candle, and breathe the flame
Into the talker, cleansed by light,
Then down into the fetch's place,
To open to the Daemon's might.
By Iron's star you call your power,
Throbbing, thrumming, humming, glowing,
By star of Pearl Her blessings flower,
And brings you to the place of knowing.
Into your chalice, held to heart
full of water cool and clear
You breathe that thing which holds you back
That is your deepest, darkest fear.
The Daemon holds your greatest good,
Into the water this now flows
To charge it now with Holy Spirit
Infused with bright white fire's glow.
Drink deep this water.
Drink deep this fire.
Drink deep this power down below,
Into your belly, your fetch's point
And rocking, gently, send it now:
A smile from when your were younger.
Forgotten laughter, now relived,
And felt, thank Gods, within your flesh
The only truth to be believed.
Open now within Her light,
Flickering from the candle's flame,
The Souls of Three are now aligned
And in the darkness so remain.

This poem is based on the F (a) eri (e) tradition practice of "making Kala", which is an energetic practice of aligning the self in order to perform a spiritual cleansing. The Three Souls model of Feri is similar to Hawaiian Huna practices and in fact is where the word 'kala' is derived. To make kala, is to confront, transform, and reabsorb those aspects of ourself which are 'negative' or are barriers to that which is our truest purpose. By delving into our fetch (vaguely the sub- or unconscious) we can then enlist the aid of the Holy Daemon (one name for the Personal God) and so be in resonance with our own Divinity. Thus we may proceed from a deeper perspective than when we are rooted in our talker (personality) alone.
