World of Ice

Screaming into the hot white pit
From out in the Hig Empty
Expanding, cracking, melting, erupting!
The world of ice enters the gravity well
Its another planet, baby . . .
Welcome to the Methopolis, seeker
This is a town with a grand old tradition
A town with substance
A substance that’s abundant
But you know all about that
You have to know, baby
‘Cause I really think its perfect
You bein’ here
I mean, if it wasn’t perfect
You’d be someplace else now, wouldn’t you?
Whatcha got in the bag?
Hey, take it easy, not important
Just keep an eye on it
‘Cause everybody ‘round here
They believe in sharing
Well, I guess it is a little like Communism
But then, ain’t that the way?
You’ve thrown away more freedom
Than the Russians can even imagine
Yes, they could do with a little expansion
If you know what I mean . . .
. . . I know you do . . .
Took the words right out my mouth
Ain’t no government taxes here
But damn straight your friends will tax you
And your lovers and your family might, too
Maybe. Probably. Okay! Undoubtedly!
Truth is, this is a town with no pity
Did I say pity? I meant to say soul
No soul!
Love, honor and respect, Absent!
Truth, devotion and loyalty, Absent!
Sobriety, serenity and fidelity . . .
Fidelity? Now that’s a good one!
Nothin’ like any those things here
‘Less maybe you got a little left in you
And maybe if you believe enough
If you clap your hands hard enough
You can hang onto a morsel of your humanity
And be alone with it
I mean whenever you ain’t fighting off
Some bloodsucker tryin’ to take it
Just to see if it can be done
We like everybody equal around here
And vampires don’t need emotions
Emotions are messy, they get in the way
The deep ones, anyway
And the shallow ones can be messy, too . . .
But its a good kinda messin’
You know what I mean?
This is the land of the dead
Restless dead, who will not sleep
Will not stop to feel joy or anguish
Or anything else
Zombies driven by a need that has become more
Metamorphosed into a singularity of purpose
Oh, come on! I know you know!
To cop that next bag, baby
To cop that next bag
Nothin’ else matters in the Methopolis
Nothin’ matters in a world of ice
Its another planet, baby
A place where no one sleeps . . .
