The Fabric of I Am

green to gold
and gold to ground
verdant spring
to autumn's brown
spring the dawn
and autumn sun down
in the end of things
new life abounds
i watch wind
as it teases the trees
in the yellowing dance
of all those goldening leaves
i sense the fabric
my witnessing weaves
I am in the leaves and the leaves are in me
I am the singer and the song of the trees
I am the green and yellow, I am the gold of the leaves
I am the darkness of winter and a warm summer breeze
I am the fire from wood, I am the blackness it leaves
I am the killer, the killed and the heart that grieves
I am the bringer of truth and he who deceives
I am sky, earth and ocean, all that you see
I am birth, I am death, I am life's living dream
I am The Circle, The Star, I am The Circle of Stones
I am the weakness of flesh, I am the power of bone
I am the sound in a bell and the master of tones
I am question and answer, the known and unknown
I'm the tag on a toe, I'm your lover's headstone
I'm a needle, a virus, I am a king on a throne
I'm at the heart of the fly that won't leave you alone
I'm the tears and the time, I am the bird that has flown
I'm your savings account, I'm all the money you've blown
I'm a vampire, your soulmate, I'm two rings on your phone
I'm the cream in your coffee, the ice in your gin
I'm what you leave and come back to again
I'm a cherub, a troll, I'm a death-row grin
I'm virtue and honor, I am black mortal sin
I'm all you'll become and all you've ever been
I am one that you wanted but never could win
I'm a whore and a satyr, I'm the Holy Virgin
I'm a genie in a bottle, I'm your evil twin
I'm silence, I'm music, I am industrial din
I am beginning and ending, I am beginning again
i sense the fabric my witnessing weaves
in the yellowing dance of all those goldening leaves
i watch wind as it teases the trees
