Talent In Iris

When you were born-
They took a hammer to the sky
It was the blue gray, right before a storm
They took two pieces of the ominous color
Fastened them right into your sockets, a quiet premonition.
A Quiet Premonition-
You sat with a strange hunger and they saw
The way that the rhythmic current jumped
From the black dots settled in the middle of your eyes
And the way the wind seemed to roar around the color
Around the color-
It swirls there, jumping straight to your arms
And from your hands it seeps into your tools
They make the thunderous roar escape now
Beating on this leathery place and emanating rhythm
Emanating Rhythm-
At your command from these gifts
The bones will begin to sway and sway
They try to match the notes on paper
With their hooves stomping with an unleashed storm
You Unleash a Storm
Onto the bindings atop a kit
But once it stops, and you settle in,
A quiet cloudy force settles inside of the eyes
And this, this is where they set the pieces of the sky.
Author's Notes: My boyfriend is a drummer in a very awesome pagan band, and this is for him, because he's my muse, my inspiration, and he's what I can always think about when life gets a little hard.
And watching him perform is amazing.
I just have never felt such intense spiritual energy when someone is drumming! It's unreal.
