I walk the night to live
to leave behind this empty shell to burn in the heat of the day
I walk the night to breathe
the scent of summer's sweet demise
to gaze upon autumn
wind blown colors that dot the sky
I walk the night to bathe in the moon's silver light
to cleanse my soul of earthly sin
so that one day I may fly
to the gates of heaven, summerland
I walk the night to dream
to reach for the stars
in hopes that behind one
lies an immortality of happiness
for my discontent heart
