The Tree

The Tree
The snow falls
Look out at the cold
Think of change
Look, watch, remember
How the tree outside my window stands.
Begin to bud
Bloom blood red blossoms
Wake from sleep so long
Tall and strong begin again
Just be
Be full of color and song
Reach to the sky, embrace the sun
Be a place to wonder
And home to a spider or two
Just be
Bring color anew
Be the Fire that never burns
Listen: first frost is on the wind
Slowly surely, start to fall
Life fades slowly
Bid farewell
Just be
Let the icicles be a coat
Let the snow be a blanket
Listen: for the wind rattles the emptiness
Sleep before it begins again
Just be
Now look, watch, remember
If the year feels long
And life seems lost
Take the advice of a tree
Simply gaze at the world
And just be.
Author's Notes: As the days grow darker and Yule approaches, I often find myself thinking of the other seasons. Thusly, this is a small reflection and appreciation of the wheel of the year and the changing seasons.
