Anger, can be a very powerful emotion.
I haven't felt angry in a long time.
I first must think about why I am angry.
Secondly, where this anger is coming from,
and thirdly how to get rid of it in a healthy way.
Anger has many synonyms:
rage, fury, ire, rath,
resentment and indignation.
When thinking about these,
I must ask myself do I feel what they say?
I think not, so maybe instead of me being angry,
I now reduce my feelings to feeling upset.
when thinking about synonyms for upset:
distressed, distraught, agitated.
They become more what I am feeling.
I am upset with how things are going.
It is good to get my feelings out,
Not expressing distress, anger, being upset
manifests itself in many different ways.
If anger is bottled up, it rears its ugly head
at the most inopportune times.
It can cause physical ailments,
emotional problems and the inability to feel
your feelings and express them.
It can come out as non-caring,
not understanding, selfish,
foolish behavior, immaturity, and hurtfulness.
I have learned over the years,
to never react when you are
feeling angry, or upset.
You step away from the situation,
sleep on it, and see
how you feel in the morning.
Better to have said nothing,
than something that can hurt
or make a situation worse.
So that's what I did last night,
I slept on it, I am still upset!
Author's Notes: Feeling angry, or upset, is sometimes a very needed feeling. It brings up all the things that you have been holding inside. It brings to the surface, other things that you have been angry or upset about that you have repressed. When these emotions are felt, it is very over powering. I am in a state of feeling upset. I am dealing with it, and trying to resolve them in the best and most healthy way I can think of. By writing this poem it is helping me to express my anger in a positive and cleansing way. Thank you readers for allowing me to feel my feelings of being upset.
