The Descent

There’s a cold breath on the eve of tomorrow
A shadow that stalks my thoughts
An evil so vile as to cut through my veins
And seep deep within the empty pores
Leaving behind a barren shell
So cold from misuse
You haunt my dreams and rape my soul
In the hours before Dawn’s holy light
As I lay almost dead in sleep
You emerge into a world of dark imagination
And drown me in the webs of your fantasies
Allow the spiders to melt into my mind
Where they swing from tree to tree
Casting their dark shadows to and fro, criss and cross
Until all light is vanquished from this world.
It is here that you introduce a wave of delusions
Springing forth where once beauty has spread
You plant your weeds into Eden and make them grow
With arms cast wide and a slick smile veering across Heaven
A slickly disease you have infected upon this soul
Rotting its way to the surface,
Blackening the empty veins and numbing every limb
Up to the face so beautifully decayed.
