Summer Dawn

Cascading rays of a golden, summer dawn
Stir life to awaken once more;
The peace of the starry arboretum
Wanes like Luna's wrinkled face
To rising sun above the forest and meadow,
Melting, the cool mist into the purity of
Dew that blankets flowers like gems
And spider-webs into glistening crystals.
Author's Notes: Another free-style piece I wrote to honor Summer days when the sun is out - reminds me of Enya's 'A Day without Rain'. I saw all that I described on such a morning, and I felt compelled to write about it. It is quite rare in the Northeast that we ever get much sun in summer. Usually it is rain - lots and lots of rain. Rain is fine, but after a while, it just slows you down. We've had too much rain lately, and this poem reminds me of that time in July when the sun came out from behind the clouds.
So, it is a bit short, but has a nice meter to it, a sort of flow that I usually don't add to my works, but it worked well here :) . It is filled with imagery, metaphor, and a dash of simile. I hope you enjoyed it, and I hope that it fills your days with light and comfort, when all other lights seem to go out.
