The Harpist

Such melodies from graceful hands
Which move with spider-like Cunning
Echo through the deepest caverns in my mind,
And cascade through my spirit like the
Flow of a waterfall,
Heard by those who listen beyond the strum;
You are silent, yet your fingers speak the
Heart-felt color of emotion
With each warming tone;
For words dropped careless on a page cannot
Compare to the Muse within the Bard,
Ever encouraged, ever growing,
With each resonance.
Author's Notes: I composed this for a harpist I met online, whose music was truly Inspiring, named Sophia. This didn't take long at all to write, but it took some time to edit. In my old Poetry class, Ms.Casey would teach us to be able to compose poems about a specific object in as little as 20-25 minutes - sometimes 15 minutes. One of my other pieces, 'Winter Road', is one such example.
So, I put myself in Sophia's place, and that was where the theme originated. It was supposed to become a non-traditional sonnet (like most of my pieces) , but I couldn't continue beyond 13 lines. Still, she loved the poem and so do I. So, whenever you hear a harpist performing, I hope you recall some lines of this piece and ponder on the Poetical (and even Philosophical) meaning.
