Crystalline Globe

Smooth surfaced teardrop sphere,
Illuminating with the insight of
The midnight sun's rays,
Reflecting, then refracting back again.
The solid world inside the crystal,
Frozen like the ice sheets of Norway,
Yet clear like the mountain's
Spring water,
Where images skim by
And flow into
Rippled waves,
Across its surface as flat-stones,
Inside this teardrop sphere,
Reflecting, then refracting back again
Author's Notes: This is one of my earlier works, but still darn good. It is a non-traditional sonnet form. I added a little near rhyme in this as well as sibilance and alliteration, to 'spice it up'. This makes the sound-devices stand out :) . All I did for this poem was visualize a crystal ball in every visual aspect possible. I added a little more commas than usual to indicate pauses, and placing them is crucial, especially when the Poet slows down on certain words. It makes the listener/reader pay attention more, and it adds a certain 'oomf' to the poem by altering the meter. There is also some allusion and simile. I hope you enjoyed it!
