O Star of mine that shineth day and night,
I pray thee, give me that for which I yearn,
O quicken me and fill me with your light,
For you from this day on my heart shall burn.
Through windswept seas I ever shall return,
Through stormy nights that prove too much for some,
The lessons that you give my soul shall learn,
Our souls together, greater than their sum.
O’er desert, plain and sea I e’er shall come,
For you, dear heart, all things will I employ,
All labors meet, all demons overcome,
To be your scarlet woman and your joy.
My heart’s desire, my comfort and my friend,
For you I will endure until the end.
