I think of you...

I think of you when I am just sitting...not really
doing anything.....
I feel sometimes sad, for what could or might have been,
had it not been that you had to leave me so long ago.
Visions of you and how you used to be pop into my brain, and I carelessly think of OnLy the good times, and
not all of the other things that I should be so good as to recall.
I think of you,
when it is raining cats and dogs outside, of when we were younger, and I could run, and scream, and yell and call you, and the times that you were silent, and busy, and formal and thoughtful and thinking aloud. posting business cards up on your little bulletin board, and rearranging things so neatly and precisely.You were a very organized person, that is one thing that I most admired about you...did you know that?
I think of you
when I am shining up my silver jewelery, you used to
be so clean, and always , always "spit" shined your boots, and polished your brass belt buckles. You liked to show me medals worn by others in your family, that you hoped one day, you would win, or come close to getting as in honor.You liked to talk about what life was going to be like when you joined, and when you would retire.
I think of you,
when I see a black furry dog, one with a short little Chinese name, who barks and runs playfully, leaping towards their owner with glee. I see you walking your dog, in my dreams of long ago.You loved her so much...she was like a "sister" to you, in some small way.I always thought that that fact was so strange...but, I understand now, because animals
are really there for us unconditionally, and that is what you
really needed, then!
I think of you,
when I play roll the dice games,
your family taught me how to play, and I won the very first
time, beating everyone! I was surprised, and so was your mom. "Are you sure, you haven't played this game before?" they all inquired politely....and I had answered "yes!" firmly.
I don't play that game anymore, but, it is still a game that I enjoy...whenever I am asked to play with others!
I think of you, because
I liked you so much, and because you let me down, in
more ways than one.I found you years and years later, only to find that, you just wanted to use me, and you really didn't "need" me as much as I thought all along! I was taken in by a "pirate"...namely you! You old Swashbuckler!
I almost wish that I had never had had to go thru with the feelings that I had had for you...wish, you hadn't been in my life.....ya know what I mean?
I think of you, only because
I did care about you...but, alas! You didn't really "love" me, t'was all an act...a Rite of Passage for you......I was the key....to get thru the one of the doors of your life....why did it have to be me?!?
I think of you, .......
but, I wish that I didn't!

this is about a person that I really liked/loved once...
and dealing with the truth, as I now pretty much know it to be! (a mostly truthful poem...)
