Learning Recruits....

I'm not gonna see
how you treat me, until
I "get there", and only
then will I be on the
same path as you, and
all the rest of 'em.
Every mornin' when we
get up in the barracks,
and there are inspections
and maybe sometimes
I "didn't do what I was
supposed to have done",
do I get baraited for "not
doing my responsibility".
Sometimes, I would rather
run screaming and yelling
out of the place, but, I don't
because I know that
"I can do better!"
SO, I put up with the
put downs, and the
"on your feet, soldier,
March!!"
Getting a letter from home,
is like a relief, but, can be
a shallow grave, if there are
too many of them....more
sit ups, more push ups
more things I just didn't
"plan on doing " in the
next several minutes....
Hot SUn,
heavy packs two, each,
and then some, guns,
tools, equipment, extra
"STUFF"!
GOd, How I wish I were
in a swimming pool, swimin',
but, those are just my
day in and day out,
"daydreams" of the day,
when I feel like that's
the only push to move
me, and bring me to
my senses!
Go thru this everyday,
everybody knows that this
is NO PICNIC!
Just gotta train as hard as
we all can.....want to do right
want to be a TEAM, want to
do what we can, together,
without fail, without loss, with
out giving up, and or dying
right there on the spot.
They, our instructors,
they try to confine, and
minamlize our thoughts,
"don't think, just do"!
We work, so hard, that
are bodies become like
theirs, rock solid hard...
dead tired, but, in mind
and with spirit, we think
like they do...same ideas
running rampant in our
thoughts, day and day
out.
Used to look at life in a
different way, before,
now I see, now we
see WHAT we have to do,
What we NEED to do....to
keep pushing, keep working
on WHAT we were made to do,
learned to do, needed to do......
We have begun a new way to see,
to work together, to be of use,
of assistance to many........
............now.......
We are NOT alone,
but, we are not useless,
we always had it, but,
we just never used it, because
we all had to be shown....
HOW.
"When there is a Will, There is a
WAY!
We see the new recruits,
and they all look sorrier than
sacks of horse manure
but in time, they will end up
like us...and they will know
the same feelings that we know
NOW!

I had watched Parris Island recruits, and some of them had felt like quitting, they were crying...it was obviously quite painful, and highly frustrating for many of them....they interviewed everybody including the drill sargeants..who said they had to do to get these soldiers ready for war....It was very interesting.
I have also seen the shows called Best Ranger..which is also a learning experience and also interesting for me as well.
I like seeing how people do what they do, and why...and I have also been very lucky to meet some
great soldiers over the net, and learned about their jobs and what they do or what they have learned or saw on their experiences and or travels.
For all of you training, I am in agreeance that what you go thru must be so "unfun" but, the great thing that you take with you, is loads of "knowledge" and then some!
For all those either in or not in Iraq or even office jobs, hats off to you....YOU do make a DIFFERENCE, believe it or not! Thank you, for everything you do, you are incredible human beings..and just you doing what you do, as well as sacrificing the times that you could have been with your children , husbands, wives, friends family, others...you have made a great commitment to so many that are so very grateful, even if you think that nobody cares, ....you are wrong...because we do!
