Learn How to Swim!

Age Group: Adult
Learn how to swim,
don't jump in and skim!
If you take the time to listen
you'll be a fish all a glistenin'!
Learn how to float
gently on the ebbing
the water rushes on
you, a new duck, but
with no webbing!
Learn how to glide
as smooth as silk
swimmingly,
a boat smoothing
water , effortlessly,
winningly.
Learn how to tread
in the water so deep,
bobbing up and down
you won't drown , you
will keep...
floating and paddling,
and or trying your strokes,
you will gain more, if you
learn like most folks!
Learning how is the first
step for you, , so that , just
in case, you slip, you'll
know, just what to do!

I was watching recruits learning how to swim
at Parris Island..many of those younger men and women did not know how to swim and were absolutely terrified!
I remember, I was terrified as well....when I learned as an older kid at age twelve.I was scared of the deep end of the pool, having nightmares over and over..and trying to "get out" of having to do the excercises at the deep end ...for weeks I was absolutely frightened to death...but, later found it to be the most enjoyable area, and pretty much did not want to go back to the shallow area anymore! But, I totally understand those new recruits..that fear...been there......oh yeah!
But, Learn how to swim if you get the chance...for even as an adult, it can be scary as well! (I knew a teacher that wanted to learn and was really frightened, but she finally did learn! YAY!!!!!) It's a Great thing to know how to do!!! It really is!) and besides, it's a lot of fun!
