The Truth….

I stood in the cemetery and talked
To your stone,
I said “ I love you, I came
On my own.”
I ‘m leavin you a letter
For you to read,
Just look at it later,
When I am ready to leave…
The letter is from me,
It’s how I feel,
I just want you to know
That it’s truthful and
Real.
It just says “I miss you,
And nothing’s been the same,
Since you’ve passed
on “over”
I miss more than your
Name!
I missed you when I
Had to let you go,
I knew you were sick,
I didn’t let that
Show….
I hid my feelings
Way, down deep
Inside,
I wanted to be
“brave”, my feelings
I did hide!
I talked about you,
At school sometimes,
I said the truth,
But, in MY mind…
I think that I thought,
That maybe someday, ….
You’d be back, to be
My daddy one day!

This is sort of aabout my father...who passed away in 1989...I wasn't a child when he passed away..
I haven't yet been to his gravesite yet...but, I am definitely planning to go and "see" him!
I was thinking about writing him a letter and putting some of my poetry along with it...and just leaving it there "with him".....I have been thinking about what I want to write to him also!
Also, regarding some of the stuff in the poem....some is true...I did try to be a brave kid...when he left our home...he had mental illnesses..and I had to say goodbye...he went to live in various hospitals, as I was growing up...but, I did visit him while I was growing up, and I saw him before he passed away!
But, I do miss more than his name!!!
(Ironically, and this really caught me off guard!....recently I found out that the mayor of the town that I am living in...has the same exact name as my father....I gotta tell you, I almost fell off my chair, and choked!!!! I was sooo shocked!) LOL! I also thought Hey, that's pretty cool, but, wait, is there something to this?!!!!! LOL!!!!! The Truth is out there, but, it sure is stranger than Fiction!!!!!
