The Cemetery

As a little child
I used to run kind of wild
hopped stone to stone
unbeknownst of
all the bones
that all had come to rest
within finery at their best,
I just thought it t'was fun
to roam every one, and
hop from here to there
without even a scare!!

This is a true story..when I used to go and visit my grandmother's grave when I was little with my mom and her grandmother..I didn't know where or what a cemetery was all about..so I would hop the stones..and have a lot of fun doing that..I didn't realize that it was a sacred space!!
Now, when I go, I see bicylists and joggers around ...and some are lying down on the graves themselves..sunning themselves on the slabs!!
or reading nearby.
Also, one particular cemetery that I know of, they bring little preschoolers there for a walk or a picnic...because their school is right next door to the cemetery..and the cemetery is peaceful and beautiful and grassy with huge shady trees.
But, I just thought to share a smidge of what I did when I was pretty little LOL!
