What I didn't know........

What I didn't know....
That eating foods made me sleepy and that
when I ate too many carbs or foods, the cells in
my body were not getting the energy they needed
from glucose, ...so no energy, I feel sooo totally asleep!
Like a princess who needed MORE than just 40 winks!
What I didn't know...
why I sweated so badly from being out in the sunshine..
Hah!
The carbs that did me in! Diabetics like me, know, that
when you over eat and or don't eat enough, you feel like
you are going to be smothered by water dripping everywhere!
Sometimes just eating a bit over the load of what you normally
take in can take YOU in, for the long haul!!
I used to turn into a swimming pool..and sometimes,
when I am not careful, I still do!
Even exercising gets me as well! UGH!!! Hate it, still!! LOL!
What I didn't know....
when you have to pee, when you go a lot, when you thirst
as though you have just walked the great Sahara.
..uhh, come here,
let me whisper this in your ear....
First clue here...your sugars are way too high!!
blood goes thru your kidneys..making it's slimy way
thru to remove wastes for disposal..but, , and here is where
you gotta lean in to hear the rest, cuz' it's important..
If you happen to have large amounts of sugars in your blood
your kidneys cannot handle all of this happening.
.and soooo, so, sooo,
it ends up winding down into "pee central" instead!
You have ye old over flow!! (gross, I know, but,
somebody had to inform ya!) lol!
You end up also getting dehyrdated as well, , which
my little diabetes buddies, that is NOT good either!!
What I didn't know........
is that you might think that you are "A-okay"..and you
might think that "you can get away with the doctor'
never finding out about your sugars on your meter...but,
Hah! Think again, mi amigos!
They can do that cute little blood test on ya..and trust me
they KNOW!!! You are NOT out of de woods yet!!
Nope!
They know all about your cheating little ways!!
They know if "you've been bad or good, so be good
for goodness sakes!" I hate to quote the Christmas
carols..but, that is pretty acurate still! LOL!
Trust me, you are NOT getting away with ANYTHING!!!
NOPE!
What I didn't know......
Is that, while I believed that diabetes was
"a blessing in disguise" for me.. (or so I had said,
a long while back, after being freshly diagnosed)
What I didn't know was that..it is such a serious
illness, and if you screw up, it won't matter
after time and time again of NOT doing what
the doctors want for you to do...you can
lose your body, it breaks down...and you do not
have ANY control over the issues with your body..
none what so ever!!
Remember this!!
I read about this..and it scares me a LOT at times!
I have to keep reminding myself over and over
and over and over again..to "take better care!!"
and to think those "happy thoughts!"
What I didn't know.....
is all about this disease, , and how many people
are being affected by this disease now, and will be
in the future..unless they stop binging, over eating
overdoing the foods, wine, beer, and their lifestyles of
just "doing whatever they want!"
Also, by not knowing enough about their family
history of diabetes..that is another thing too!
SO, if you don't know...get checked..and be safe!!
Take good care to find out the family histories of
illnesses..in YOUR family and if you start to feeling
odd, go and see a doctor..and get tested!!!
This illness is sneaky..and I didn't know that I
probably and MOST likely had had it for years!!
So, read and take good care of you and your
family and or friends whom you know!!
otherwise, you will be like me...when...
