for today and tomorrow

for today I will live
for tomorrow we will see
today
i wake up
and thank the powers that be
and if I chose to ride the train
i will wish everyone a happy day
and if i should take a cab I will tip him handsomely
and when I get to school i shall read a book
i shall soak up as much knowledge as I can
listen to my instructor and befriend my classmates
but if I do not go to school I shall
walk
no train no cab
I shall walk and feel the wind play against my ankles
feel the sun dry my hair
and I shall thank the powers that be
so that in the evening
before I go to sleep
having lived for today
i shall have no regrets for what tomorrow brings
for today I will live
for tomorrow we will see
