A Spell to Cleanse Oneself

Author's Notes: I created this poem for one reason. I wanted to feel centered, and be true to myself. I am surrounded by my Christian friends, and though they say they accept i am a Witch, I know deep down they never will. My friend invited me to go to church with her on Easter, and I said sure. I am so confident in my religious path that experiencing others religious beliefs does not effect me, or so I thought. It was a new experience for me, for someone to blatantly say that , 'for those of you not "Saved", for those who have not accepted Jesus Christ into their hearts, they will not go to heaven, they will not be saved during the second coming and ultimately they will never be accepted fully by Christians.' Everyone in the church accepted this, like the preacher was merely checking off a grocery list. And I sat there stunned, as my friends nodded and agreed. They would never accept me, and worse yet, they were trying to change me because they saw something wrong with me.
