Falling
by Dayan
Age Group: Adult
the rain in the perpetuating rhythm
claps and thunder in the distance
and the lazy afternoon lengthens
a night at the cafe lengthens
a week with you lengthens
a life with you becomes
momentarily unbearable
to lend any thought to
dream of happy days
moored in the beat of waves
somewhere in the bays of infinity
as light strikes the windows
illuminating our abode with prism-light
and a spongy sensation
a growing uncertainty
that cannot be avoided
to awake tomorrow near you
and realize it is not you I wanted
it was only the memory
of lazy afternoons and rain
to live with you a decade
and realize how wrong it went
a life turned to endless servitude
a love turned to binding melodies
