The Teachers ~ Broken Trust

by Lady Abigail Welcher

Age Group: Adult

When many you meet,
then many will part,
Friendships may strengthen
right from the start.

In perfect love
and perfect trust,
We open my hearts
to some filled with lust.

Why do we struggle
to teach truths way,
When those whom we trust
cause us to fray.

When those
of deceitful hearts come,
Why don’t we stop trying,
just turn and run.

We give our hearts
to those whom proclaim,
They seek the old ways;
now to reclaim.

Some will cross our paths
in truth and love,
Others try to break us
like the wings of a dove.

For when your doorway is open
for many to pass,
Not all who enter, will stay
or be found steadfast.

Managing emotions
and hiding the pain,
We continue, yet in our hearts
a stain shall remain.

Our eyes are open
seeking those desiring to learn,
In some the dishonor
causes our tears to burn.

Not all are honest
but seek you to use,
What they can learn
then turn and abuse.

Ours heart may be taken
broken and bend,
But with the understanding,
we give our consent.

As time moves forward
our hearts shall take flight,
Slowly trust returns,
but aware of it's plight.

No matter the ones
that beat down the door,
Even in the shadows
of things broken and torn.

We stand for those seeking
truth in the light
And shall battle those hidden
in darkness of night.

We will open our hearts
and the doorway repair.
For others will come,
those of sincere heart and care.

Sometimes it is hard,
not to play the games,
But in the end
only truth will remain.

So, for the solitary one
in the countless who lust,
We steadfastly teach,
in perfect love and perfect trust.

Blessed be the Teachers
of truth and right,
For sometimes they stand
alone in the night.

Author's Notes: Those who teach often must deal with children, “no matter what their age might be.” But we can never stop teaching or giving our hearts, even when occasionally... some may walk away with a part of it.
