The Crone’s Memoir
She, the crone
With those weary eyes
That see to the bone
Both truth and the lies
She was once the mother
With bright shining eyes
Far too many a lover
And they, her heart’s demise
Before then, the young maiden
With wide hopeful eyes
The world seemed gold-laden
And everyday a surprise
Yet now she is haggard
With haunting tired eyes
Her steps have been staggered
Down the path of the Wise
Sometimes if you look closely
A spark you will see
It’s hidden now, mostly
Within the shadow of she
But looks can deceive
A fool to dismiss her
You, too, will believe
The Moon is her sister
Dark phantom of time
You can’t forget her
A spell spoke in rhyme
With a pinch of lavender
Oh, she was a dream
And a star in the skies
Not all is what it seems
Just open your eyes…
