A Promise I Will Keep
Ocean blue so soothing
Feel the beauty of the sea
Reaching out
Beneath the moonlight
Is your face I see
Remembering back to childhood
From sadness a reprieve
But your anger was so harsh
Running through my veins
To turn my back
The only choice
And in all those years
Not once did I look back
Until...
Oh my dear Lady and Lord
What a beautiful man before me stood
Without even knowing
It was you
No longer a child
In your eyes I was captured
So wise you had become
Anger to peace
A dignity strong and true
Was your cheek I so softly touched
For promises I had made
In protection and love
Meant only for you
You search so still
Although one would think
You have no need
But trust that I believe in you
You deserve so much better
And I am pained by all you've seen
Behind a tough exterior you hide
But oh that telling pink glow
It emanated so bright
Frosted window
In moments alone
Would you be proud
Of what you found
And of who I am
Terrified to even think
Yet our dreams
So sure surround
Upon the planes
We are free
While in circumstance
We are divided
But know this my sweet love
I do cherish you
My promise I will keep
