C'in the Light

C'in the Light
Sometimes the things we perceive to be most impossible become a reality beyond our wildest dreams. Whether good or bad. For I have walked a path plagued by shadows embraced by the purest of light. With this I have vowed to lend my heart, my voice in healing when the need should so arise. And I shall finally after years of contemplation try and bring peace to another most deserved. So out in the wind I stand, praying the consequences won't bite back.
"I guess you bet on the wrong horse." A phrase I've heard all but twice. Once before and once after. "Just watch, you'll see, " he said, and boy did I see. Just a small blurb in an endless line of validation. He speaks of then and nows. The pain he has withstood. Then he smiles so content now in his ways. Never to return from whence he came. He has found his light, his forgiveness within himself and his glow is so much brighter than even the most brilliant of stars. He is at peace, though never truly at rest.
He is a healer in his own right. Leading those trapped within a sea of darkness. Just as he had once been. In vision many times we are connected. A sight I so oft cherish. Together offering a light. Across the sands of battles lost, he fights to bring the honored home. Some days he lives just to dry a child's eyes and hold their hand while on their way. And Heaven is blessed to have him. So surely his dignity goes unmatched. Still, there comes just that one minute the fire rages in his eyes. I suppose it is as it was in life.
So while his home has changed, his heart has not and just for a moment he longs to return. Just so someone knows he's out there. Waiting, listening, hoping they won't just walk away. Take pride in all he has achieved for even he never thought he could.
Though the connection not readily apparent, it is there none the less. Stronger than one would imagine or understand. These words are of an image I have spent years trying to protect and to some extent conceal. In actuality, I was neither friend or foe. Indifferent a more likely term. I had tuned myself out completely until I learned to embrace my abilities and not fear them. When I was very young, I sensed a horrible pain from this man that I somehow understood. It became so bad that I had eventually blocked the very thought of anything that had to do with him. I wasn't till many years later that I had learned the truth. I couldn't help him then and I live with that everyday. So maybe the connection and understanding of the past was because I would someday battle the same emotion. I don't know. I do know though that I am blessed and honored to be able to help him now in some small way to find his closure just as he has helped me find my way.
