Dear Joe
Thoughts of you
This day and night
Heart-filled pain
In silence felt
Your eyes no longer gleaming
Just a fading grayish blue
My dear friend
Who and what
Has gotten to you?
Do you not know by now
The true beauty of your soul
Come, take my hand
And for just a moment see
The place from whence you came
All that you are
And all you have been
Never mind the hurtful ways
The strife and petty games
You are a king
I wish I could speak to you
So many things to say and hear
But where to start and how to ask
Escapes me every moment of everyday
You are a good man, dear one
And in you I have been taught to trust
By ties that will never fray
I wanted so badly to reach out to you
The truth I knew you would see
But I could not
For within a gilded nest lies the lesser of two evils
Where hopes are seen by few
On one path sits a darkness
That beckons and howls
Arbitrator, mediator
He who feeds on illusion and gain
The greater of evils
Is one who has already caused an ocean of pain
On the other sits pure evil
Though in the most feminine of tones
Seething in disdain
Upon the royalist of thrones
Yet here sits the lesser of two evils
As behind it stands a gracious heart
And it is one in which I have no fear
But I come to you now
As my empathic side overtakes me
Hoping with all my heart that your ok
In all these years of vision and dreams
Is only twice I have seen you this way
So know that I am here for you
Sending blessings and light
Praying for you a better tomorrow
A flame through the dark of the night

Author's Notes: This poem is about a dream I had last night about a friend who was very sad and seemed like he was giving up. I hope he doesn't. He is a very confident and beautiful man. Unfortunately, I have no way of contacting him to make sure he's ok. So I put my energy forth and hope somehow he hears.
