Torn
It has been so long
My heart is drowning
In a sea of dreams that once were
What has happened
Where have you gone
Those feelings that embraced
Warming me in the night
A distant memory
I am alone and torn
I spoke when maybe I should not have
Showed you my face was real
Our fantasy was our world
And we deserved it all
That hope and happiness
That passion that no one could touch
But that's over now and I am left with nothing
Only emptiness to remind me
Even the light that so gently shields me
And lovingly protects me seems to be diminishing
I fear one day it too will be gone
How will I live
I know no other way
Already I feel only a lifeless caress
Joined by painful emotion
I am shattered and torn
I love him just as I love you
For without him I would not know the meaning
I would not know the brilliance of the sun
Or the power of trust and strength
The giving of true and unobscured love where it is so needed
I would not know where I belonged
And where I will never be
Still, I have faith that one day our hearts will heal
Please know this is not your fault or mine
Was but a blessed treasure given to us
To teach us right from wrong
As I hold you once more and look into those eyes
Know that I cherish you with everything in my soul
And our dreams will never be forgotten
