Unveiling
by Shawnee
Age Group: Adult
A melody which no lyrics fit
A tragedy upon a heart sits
A grieving no tear can relieve
A truth one does not believe
A guilt unforgiven by confession
A mirror image of caustic rejection
A burden never meant to carry
A liar, dead and now to bury
A self-imposed limitation
A solitary degradation
A fear masked behind a rage
A sorrow trapped within a cage
A soul prolific with distress
A mind, such a pretty mess
A heart whose battle has been lost
A body now that pays the cost
A skeptic’s hand opened the door
A Pandora’s curiosity to see more
A candle lit in a darkened room
An unveiling of my own tomb
A crossroad met with determination
A disorienting onslaught of revelation
A turning of the wheel of time
A hope spoken aloud in rhyme
A path is now illuminated
A lesson has been ruminated
A struggle coming through the haze
A northern star on which to gaze
