82 lbs and falling
Forsaken beauty failing
Entwined by vain excess
What once was now gone
Is nothing now but
The skeletal remains of past
Grotesque psychosis
Feeding off imperfection
No longer rendering life
What possesses us to seek such agony
How sad it is to feel such a need
Competing only for society's expectations
Of what we should and should not be
In the end is only Death that walks beside us
Uncaring, cold, indifferent
Lying in wait of cursed flesh
Oblivious to the pain
Its is these images that haunt me
And logic so surely prevails
Forcing me to see truth in such lies
As there are moments I am weakened
When such a path would seem to me pure bliss
Purging myself to reach an unobtainable goal
To bask in nothing more than bitterness of impure love
Til finally I am thankful
To remain as society's outcast a blessing
Ordinary, overweight, average and unwanted
Though is an excruciating road to choose
I will not fall victim to such darkness awakening
Graced by strength as battles rage
It is a fight I will not lose

Author's Notes: I saw a picture of a grown women who was 82 lbs because she feels that is how she is supposed to look. I battle everyday with myself about being a little overweight. Sometimes I think I would starve myself if I thought I could actually do it. Pictures like the one I saw bring me back to reality.
