Oh, it has been long
Too long a day my love
Seeing you in my heart
Holding back tears
Dreams I so oft lock away
Surface again
Such words I need to say
And cannot
I know
Still, it does not change
Mind you
All that I saw
Not as you stood as a boy
No, it has not been since then
But the day I saw the man
Felt his heart, his strength
Saw the fire in his eyes
It was at that moment
My world fell silent
Within the week
Your day of grandeur approaches
And a week beyond
You will be here
Separated only
By stop signs and street lights
And again I will be frozen
Trapped within my own darkness
For it is the illusion I fear
The glittering of gold
I know then too
It is as much for you
Your peace and happiness
As I am still so very unsure
Of what you have and have not seen
Though it tears my soul
I will stay within my bounds
It is only this I ask
Take my hand for just a moment
And again listen without disdain
In your heart I will be there
Beating in time
Trust that I know, one day
One day I will have to forget
Until then I will be...
Know without a doubt my love
When that night shall come
And you look upon the midnight sky
Your eye caught by the brightest of stars
Know my love
No matter how brilliantly its light does shine
It could not compare to you
