Truth
Sometimes people wonder
Just who I am
Not sure how to see me
And that’s ok
Honestly, sometimes
I don’t know either
I’ve gone for so long
Flooded with dreams and vision
That I did not conjure or control
But they were with me still
Even through days of indifference
When I did not hear, nor see, nor remember
I was a vile adolescent
With sharp criticism
Lasting well into my twenties
Maybe karma is the key
Oh, it would figure
In my life, so I have learned
Anything is possible
It was not so much the dreams mind you
Actually it was more like, WTF!
Why these people, why now, I don’t get it
Once I was stupid enough to tell my friends
They said I had too many shots the night before
Hmmm, I thought they were probably right
As we made our way to the bar
Thank Divine I don’t drink anymore
Ah, but the dreams stayed
And the visions grew stronger
And the empathy at times unbearable
I tried to block it, I tried so hard
Reminiscent of past events
Perhaps, sometimes
We scream so loudly on the inside
Thinking no one will hear
When the truth is
That someone out there does hear
In some way
I’ve heard
Then again
Maybe it’s not me hearing
Maybe it’s the connection shared
So much so
That I am sensing it
Am affected by it
What happens to one
Happens to the other
So I’ve learned
Still, I cannot control it
More like I bottle it up
No one knows, ever
Truly, I don’t regret it
Yet I fear it at times
Fear its consequences
When I choose to speak
Fear my confinement
When my words are misunderstood
Misconstrued, distorted
So that I pray for my own safety
Times of weariness can be overbearing
The burden at times needs to release
Til I can awake within a brilliant glow
And again breathe

Author's Notes: I just needed to release and calm my anxiety. I spoke my mind when maybe I should not have and now I am terrified of the aftermath.
