Unconditional Love

There is always blue beyond grey
And times of laughter above the pain
I know there have been times
I’ve gone places you would rather I hadn’t
With people you’d rather I shouldn’t
But still you love me
I know there have been times
You probably felt I would never listen
Never understand even when I was
A grown woman
That I would never know things said
Were spoken out of care not cruelty
I know there will never be
Enough words in any language
To express how much it means
And how lucky I have been
Sometimes I wonder if I
Will ever be able to comprehend
Exactly how fortunate I am
That we will always have a place
In each others hearts
Author's Notes: This was something I wrote to my parents before I left to get married. I'm sure I'll have another one soon from a different perspective now that I'm a mother.
