Left of Reason

A little left of reason
Is a place that I call home
It always rains on Mondays
No lights, no telephone
And if you asked the neighbors
Well, they don’t know my name
They lock the doors, bar the windows
And still suffer just the same
But somewhere deep in the dark
While our dreams are slowly shattered
Lie the pieces of our hearts
And all that ever really mattered
In this town we’ve lost our faith
We hold no Ace or King
And even if you see us crying
It doesn’t mean we feel a thing
We’ll never look you in the eye
We’re too busy laying stones
Building our wall to keep you out
We turn our backs and roll the bones
But somewhere deep in the dark
We loose our strength and close our eyes
Wishing for things that never were
And keep telling ourselves the lies
A little left of reason
I can’t live here anymore
This home’s become my prison
Time to spread my wings and soar
My bags are packed, the car is running
Another trip I’ll make alone
No one seems to care that I’m leaving
They turn their backs and roll the bones
But somewhere deep in the dark
With my dreams now bruised and battered
I’ll find the pieces of my heart
And all that ever really mattered
