Dream a Little Dream

Dream a Little Dream
In the backdrop
Your eyes they hold me
As I see you there, watching
Within a dream, it is you
And you are as beautiful
As brilliant as that first realization
Life had changed
I can remember those moments
Beginning sequence spiraling in my mind
Awakening upon a cloud
My heart like thunder raging
Amid a fog of confusion
I had not ever seen you in such a way
Til then, in a dream
That lingered on thereafter
An inner battle waged within me
My soul crying out, fighting for truth
The truth that lay so deeply hidden
The self admission
It was you who I wanted there
In my dream
You were that one
For that matter will always be
But it is only time
That has since passed between us
Sarcasm, the mask of deception
Where emotional discourse blocks what was
Until now, whilst you reappear
Watching from the wings of a dream
My heart stands still
So oft, my sweet angel, I think of you
Only to dismiss it before the pain erupts
Yet it is not before I am reminded of the story
The story I knew before the words were etched
In which its middle becomes its end all to quickly
And tears are quelled silently
Chalk it up to psychic babble
Self validation perhaps
Of the gifts I sometimes doubt
Still I will not soon forget
That which I knew then
Just as I know now
Be safe my love
I am here as your soul shall reach
