Where You Are

by SilverAngelFire
 Age Group: Adult

Where You Are Regardless of the vast separation Regardless of the smoke, rain, wind and pain That darkness that serves to suffocate at times Where you are Is where I want to be I keep hearing you say "If it ain't broke babe" "If it ain't broke" But something inside me did break last night Broke hard, by my own hand And I don't know how to fix it You always make things better for me It's you who cleans up the messes I can make So how do I get back now Because where you are, without a doubt Is where I want to be
I'm so sorry baby, so so sorry I never knew Never paid attention enough in the past Karma maybe I guess, for all the years I made fun Pre-judged and picked on you and your friends Ah, but Divine has taught me quite a lesson about that Has it not Only in my life is it possible This life dealt by the powers that be And if it were not you all this time I think my heart would die an unimaginable death Because where you are Is where I want to be You told me not to go looking You did, I heard you yesterday loud and clear I was never the girl to go searching for useless information Pictures to me are set in black, white and gray so oft it seems Like colors exiled by the prism Blue, brown, blue, brown They're just colors you say And this obvious argument we've had for nine years Only yesterday I found out Not out of neglect, no definitely not Because my stubborn mind just would not listen It's in myself I don't always believe You just smile and say it's ok All that resides here in the heart does not change Because where you are Is where I want to be I'm so tired Yet we shall make it through won't we As always until we find our way back to that place You'll remind me again of what love truly is That it is not cruel as some would say Love is never cruel Circumstance and people are cruel The mind in itself can be cruel True love that is neither made up nor coached Well that love is unconditional And it does not dissipate so easily Even in moments of utter darkness And the story you've been recounting for me Those two lost souls Seemingly lost on opposite sides of a fence How they would sit day after day Unable to cross to either side Doing nothing especially extraordinary To the obvious eye There is nothing either can offer the other But perhaps sharing the passing moments Listening, feeling, hoping, understanding Figuring out ways to make it across that line For that one minute when the gates should open Even if only for a short time They find themselves in the same place, At the same time Life, well that goes on, on both sides And they each try to fit in, adjusting to the mundane But at the end of the day, they return to that fence People go by shaking their head Reciting their wisdom "You know, the grass is not always greener on the other side" Or each would be asked Why would you waste you time sitting by that fence every night Their answer, as they sat and looked upon each other Their answer was always the same "You're right the grass is never greener, but here, right here in the middle of it all, it is exactly the same"
"If everything you held dear sat on the other side of that fence, would you walk away to let it writhe alone in the wind?"
Blue or brown, it matters not Color is insignificant you say Love cannot be bound So now is not the time Not the time to be backing out of promises made Dismissing all the hopes and dreams Absolutely not Because where you are Is right where I want to be
