How I Tried
Age Group: Adult
How I Tried
How I tried last night
The room set
Dressed in white candles
Atop crimson rose petals
I knew you'd be there waiting
I love the thought of you there
And the blue stone we share
Shimmering in the candlelight
You placed it on the night stand
I tried to keep up, I did
I'm so sorry baby, I tried
But you were gone
My vision obscured by fatigue
Frustrations thus conquered by sleep
Maybe I'm just old, lol
So try, try again I must
And so I shall
Some night soon
When it's just me and you
