Fret Not Little One

Fret Not Little One
Fret not little one
His voice breaking the silence
As if from a cloud, it resonates, dispelling the storm
Almost child like she falls
The safety of his arms, warm and strong
From the depths of her soul she knows somehow
This man would fight for her
Fight with every ounce of conviction that transcends from his heart
Just as she would for him
Divine connections between the earth and sky
Yet, it is not reminiscent of a God consoling his mistress
But more like siblings separated over lifetimes
Finding their way home
Sharing a protective intimacy
Their refusal to allow the other to hurt
Still, she knows too the shadows are about
That perhaps it is his own trials that have brought him this night
Seeking solace from embers blowing along the autumn breeze
Natures fury littering his peaceful existence with ash and ruin
She fears for him, for his loved ones, for all that he holds dear
For all that she holds dear
Is he safe, I need to know he's safe
The bluebird that graces my path assures me
Harmonizing, fret not little one
Seemingly smiling at the spectacle from all angles
For this heart he has created is right where he would wish it to be
And though it is only for but a moment she can remain
In that single passage of time she finds release
Every bit of pain and stress in that one minute, gone
And sleep, that wonderful deep sleep that has evaded her being, begs to be reborn
