Be Careful What You Wish For
Words are only words, shadowed in life's existence
They are nothing and everything simultaneously
Drowning in the murky ethereal waters
The heart's dear diary, pillaged and pilfered
Just be careful what you wish for
This soul sees more than you care to share
Are you beggar or thief
Stealing from those who have nothing
Save for their hopes and dreams
Manipulated to serve some spiritual prostitutes gain
Too bad someone has already beat you to it
There is nothing left here that has not already been taken
Every last morsel you've cleared from this lifeless plate
Are you sated now, are your needs fulfilled
What is that you will do with what you've found
What is it that you want
Knowledge of life, death, love
You wish to see what then
That special one maybe
Then what shall you do with that information
Truth is, there is nothing you can do
Except pray that you were again blind
If only just to keep your heart from wearing away
When you peer through the night with Xray eyes
Can you see me staring back
Perhaps it's nothing, perhaps it's more than that
So tell me why the whisper in my ear is growing stronger
Why these playful imps find themselves restrained
Boasting an absolute refusal to leave my side
I know all too well what that means
It's not so bad they say
Yet the frustration bores through me like daggers
Speaking quite a different story
Ahh, but they will leave, when the stillness arrives
Down that long dark corridor
Their footsteps heavy on the floorboard
Like uncaged beasts nipping at the heels of their captor
Just remember there is a line
A moment when the deception is conceived
I shall already know
I always know
Am merely waiting the admission
You see, it really is quite simple
There is but only one or two who may cross that sacred zone
Have you stepped through that ancient doorway
The answer in fact could not be mistaken
No? Well then
Be careful what you wish for
Digging through another's trash mustn't be fun
