Sapphire Sky

Sapphire Sky
What would this world bring
Should love fade
Or wither away to nothingness
Would it then be exiled
Forced to the edges of the earth
Shall it be lost forever
In the graying overcast of a passing storm
And if this were true
Could life survive such a dismal reality
Love is the eternal teller of truths
Even when we choose to deceive ourselves
Or each other
Love cannot be shamed into hiding
Its light expunged by the cold dark winter
No, for when the brilliance of a sapphire sky breaks forth
There is no end
Only the infinite being of what was
And what will soon be
I think it was in that very moment
That moment when I saw your eyes
Yes, it was then, my heart awoke
Beneath a sapphire sky
Immersed in the gentleness of your wings
It was love, real and true
Its light, radiant and unyielding
Adorning itself with an unparalleled trust
Yes, it was then
Our dreams became one
Be careful what you wish for
Is that not what they say
So you don't go looking
Still, the universe knows your secret
Masked by the stars against a sapphire sky
Even if only for a fleeting moment
The universe knows and must know
For when your soul soars free of its self imposed prison
It shall always return and be welcomed home
